I am working on a 1952 8N. I flushed the transmit ion, hydraulic pump, and rear end case with mineral spirits. When done and dried down, I found this unknown part lying on the bottom of the transmission case. It was located on the front bottom of the case, close to the first reduction gear. Does anyone know what it is? I am glad that I found it and looks like it was kind of beat up by the gears. The tractor did shift and function OK. |

| Nice Camino. I had a 70 SS for a time and still have my first car- a 75 SS El Camino. Have owned it since 1984. |

| John is "the Man" when it comes to parts..
My first thought was a Gov Ball Race, but I could not explain how it would get in the tranny..

El Camino. Shop truck. Kind of off topic here on the tractor forum. |

| Might be O/T John, but that is one sweet looking ElCamino. Love the color. I'd love to see more pics too. Gerard |

| John, Whew, I feel like a slobbering teen again. I didn't know El Camino's came with an SS version. What engine was in it originally? Maybe you should start another thread. Gerard |

| im slobbering too, a friend of mine had one of these back in college in the '70's, orange with white stripes, SS 396 and 4 on the floor, i dont know how many sets of rear tires we burned off that thing , but nothing was cooler than that car,and thats back when most muscle cars were still on their first life, today yours is exactly the year, color, cowl induction hood and engine ect that id want for myself, really nice job, and this is your shop truck???? |

| That's a bearing retainer and eyelet from the bottom end of a steering shaft. No logical way it should ever end up in the bottom of a transmission. |

| Ha ha ha... No, he found the pencil in the gas tank when the PO tried to see how much gas was in it.
I cannot identify it off hand, but more than likely an old starter bendix part. When they let loose, the parts are often just left in the bell housing. |
