Yep many of the digital meters do odd things around engines. I am lucky my meter works just fine. As for 1 wire or 3 wire the 3 wire is far better and does not need the high RPM to start charging as the 1 wire does. You do know most auto part stores with test your alternator for free don't you?? |

| I took the alternator to Orileys and they said that it was bad. I bought another one but still having some charging issues |

| Ya if it is a one wire that is where the problem is. Take it back and get a simple 3 wire like for a 1980 Chev pick up on AC not power any thing. At O'Reilly's it should cost around $45 and that is with a life time warranty. Been using those for years now and if it does go bad you take it back and they hand you a new one for free. |
