Ebay has a 6volt voltage regulator for sale. The seller says the original OEM # is 8N10505B. My tractor is a "51, serial #8N 382805 with a star at the end. Does anyone know whether or not that regulator will work on my tractor? I"m changing my system from a 12 v back to a 6 v and have nothing to compare it to. Thanks! |

Actually, Ron, the
early' 8N used VR #8N10505A up through S/N 1376684. Then #8N10505B through S/N 263,844. Then #8N10505C beginning with #308456. For replacement B applications, the regulators are supplied with a mounting bracket/adapter. Just for the record, the compromise in all this is that the A gen was 11.5A and the B & C were 20A, so currently, since there are no A VRs available, you are stuck with a 20A reg on your 11.5A A generator. That will be OK most of the time, since the current needs are typically small, however, a failed battery demanding more than 11.5A from the A gen/ B or C reg combination will over time over stress the A generator, since the later regs will only try to limit generator current to 20A. More than you wanted to know isn't it? |

| | Yes, but I'm not concerned with "guarantees", because by the time I'm ready to use it, any guarantee will have expired. I am gathering parts as I find them, at the right price, to use probably a year or more down the road, but appreciate your input. |
