Soundguy;I hadn't tried to start the tractor yet. I had just turned on the gas valve and it immediately started leaking from that little plug-thingy. But I definitely will check out the float and valve assy. Thanks for your help. Joe |

| | screw the main needle all the way out.. open the bowl drain and let some fuel drain into a cup.. shut off tank tap.. use a straw on the end of a carb cleaner spray and give a few blasts at the main needle hole ( cover eyes ).. and then remove fuel line from carb and give some blasts there till it drips at the bowl drain. put back together and turn fuel on. may have been crudded up float. if that don't fix it.. time to kit it. |

| | cheapest anyway. good luck. post back if you hit a snag. many people can help you kit or set a carb.. and if the carb is extra cranky.. there is a carb expert here named GB, plus a few pro mechanics and NH parts men/mechanics that can help.. plus us regular old iron mongers... |

| As sound said that is pretty much a device in the carb to make sure if flooded it will drain so you can start it once it has drained. You may have a float problem or you could also have a little dirt/rust in the needle seat causing that. If dirt etc some times pulling the carb drain plug is enough to let ti flow out and then the float work just fine again |

| | Thanks Old - I'll check and see if the float is working like it should. I had the carb apart last week and the float didn't seem to have any fluid in it, so I'll have another look at the seat and valve. Appreciate your help. Joe |
