Someone told me that you aren't a collector till you have at least three. So... I got this to go with my other two, a 1950 Front Mount and a 1952 Side Mount. This one is a 1952 also according to the Serial...the rest looks to match. I could still find out different tomorrow when I give it a "real" look over. It's not painted brown...that is rust.
Sheet metal looks salvageable and it's all there. One of the rear tires is near new - the rest of the tires have decent tread but have some dry rot. They do look like they will hold a while longer anyway.
Turns over - doesn't fire. I'll have that sorted out in no time.
Has a 1-wire alternator conversion. Overall I'm really happy for my $500. Got the guy to throw in that small set of harrows...dunno what I'll do w/that.

| Thanks to all you gents for making me feel better about my purchase. I don't think I'll do anything to this one for a while besides getting it running and keeping it out of the weather.
I've let too many projects stack up on me already. I need to get the alternator kit installed on my other 52 SideMount and my 50 FrontMount needs a steering box rebuild.

| Got one that looks a lot like that. Friend of mine
gave it to me It was sitting in the edge of his
father orange grove where he left it when it quit
running. Got mine running and just left it alone
use it move stuff around my yard and in and out of
my shop. I"m sure you"ll have it running in no
time. Those rear wheels and the bumper are worth
most of what you paid for it

| Geez, you got more than your moneys worth just in rubber! Very nice!!! I think if it was mine, I would clear coat the sheet metal to protect that gorgeous patina!

I instantly recalled something when i was just a young LAD.Note: I have been on standby for a local MED patient at the local hospital.
NO 4 was when WE were collectors for our grandbabies. I am referring to the #4 engine of a Lockheed Connie, at altitude, over the PACIFIC, SHARK Infestations, the only worries WE had.

Looks like a good deal to me.
You're right, if it turns over you should have it running in no time.
Looks to be a bit of a bow in the radius rod. I have that on one of mine.
Someone mentioned it might be a sign of damage from a loader, or
another type of hard hit in the front end. Doesn't seem to bother mine.
Something to look at in case there are other stressed parts like the center pivot.

| Bet if you clean the points up and or hot wire it, it will fire up and you can drive it right off the trailer. Plus a trailer is a good place to mess with a tractor if you do not have a real nice shop to work in. Years ago we picked up an 8N for $800 with some equipment to boot but the rear tires where bad. I messed with it and cleaned up the points and used it to load the equipment that came with it. Drove it all around on 2 flat rear tires but got the stuff loaded
