I called napa and they said the primary resistance on the 6 volt round coil is 1.26 to 1.4(I guess SB means made in CHINA). Isnt this too little to bypass the ballast resistor? Can I run 12 volt round coil on a 6 volt system with ballast resistor bypassed or are all too high in primary resistance? |

| | keep oin mind thatt he front mount square can coils NEED the oe ballast resistor on 6v. later N with 6v round coils DO NOT need a resistor to run on 6v. what exactly are you trying to do. a napa ic8 is a 6v round coil for a later sidemount N.. it needs no resistor to run 6v. an ic14sb is a 12v round sidemount.. it needs no resistor to run on 12v. |

| Quoting Removed, click Modern View to seeThat will be fine....it is within reasonable range.
If a "true" 12v coil with no ballast req'd, then it will be >3 Ohms & if you use it on 6v, the current will be too low & no run or weak spark & perhaps cut out at high speed & poor if any cold start. |
