I"m looking to build a land leveler for my 8N. I"ve been told the best kind is one that hooks to the 3 Point and has caster wheels 8 ft behind the blade. Looking to level my gravel drive way. Any ideas or pictures out there? I have a 3 Pt blade but not good enough to get good results with it! Any help appreciated. EGBinOR |

| Thanks for the pic JMOR and to all the others that replied. Just what I was looking for, wish the John Deere forum worked as well. EGBinOR |

| I saw a setup once, nothing much more than a 3 point out the back side of a blade going back about 4-5 feet to a single wheel about wheel barrow sized. As I recall only the top link was adjustable. It was probably a 7 ft blade and 30+ hp tractor. The top link forked at the wheel end. |

| Caster wheels are the right set up for leveling but 8ft is a little extreme. |

| You can build a frame and add the wheels to your current back blade.
I don't have a picture, but I built a set like this for my landscape rake.
It worked well and I just pinned them on so I could take them off when not needed.
Kind of like this guy did: Someone else's

| Don't have pictures but I made a frame about three feet behind the back blade with wheels. Used chains to set depth with 9N. I built about 1/4 mile road and covered it with Waste asphalt. Worked very good. can send pic if you want. |

| | I make a position/height control device for the 9N/2N and Ferguson T model tractors that gives you positive positioning of the lift arms. Set and forget it. About a thousand sold in the past 10 years or so. See my link below. Zane |

| Quoting Removed, click Modern View to seeIt is an answer, but to a different problem than egbinor is trying to solve. Good position control does not make a leveling machine. Think road grader, with blade positioned BETWEEN the axles. |

Exactly. Without that rear wheel or wheels in back of the blade, every time your wheels hit a low spot the blade goes down with the wheels. Those rear wheels hold it at a steady level.
JMOR, of course you know this. I'm just adding a little more for those that don't get it. |
