After All the passages are cleaned, I put two light coats of 'Wrought Iron', Flat black paint on the outside. Holds up nice, and is resistant to oil, gas, and rust. I also let the carb set overnight, under a light bulb on the desk, to 'set' the paint. NO complaints yet, after about 5 yrs of doing it this way, with not ONE return on any overhauls. AND.....NO.....Sandblasting will not stop any carb overhaul, from working properly, if the overhaul is done right and the passages are cleaned completely out. Sandblasting is a NO-NO?????? ..........That is an 'OLD-WIVES' type tale. Just got to know how to do it RIGHT!!!! TSX241B by GB in MT.....: Gary :)   [Reply]  [No Email]

I have bead blasted old M/S carbs as well as others for decades with no problems resulting from doing so. One word of caution when so doing is to never blast the 1/4 X 40 threads for the main needle or the needle might quickly pop out upon starting the engine!   [Reply]  [No Email]
