| Yes, it will fit. If it is a step-up/step-down combination there are no worries about it having the wrong gear. They never made any of those with straight cut spur gears. |

That's intertesting. Can the spur gear input shaft be installed in a combo unit for use in an older 9N? Or is it simpler to swap the transmission as well?

The input shafts for the step-up and the combination are not interchangeable. Original installation instructions for both the step-up and the combination state that if you have an early 9N with spur gears you must replace the 9N7113 gear in the tractor's transmission with a 2N7113 helical gear before installing the Sherman. That's the only change required. |

And if it does have the straight cut spur gear input shaft it is a rarity that you can likely sell for a premium to some one that needs it. Use the proceeds to buy one with the helical input gear for your 8N and pocket the difference.
