If I have a small short in the coil, just enough to knock out spark, would that generate enough heat to be felt on the surface of the coil? Maybe the short is on the engine side of the coil and not generating enough heat to be felt. I had a problem with a "new" coil years ago, and resorted to replacing it with the only coil I had on hand, (possibly the original... at least it looks old enough).... I'm wondering if that coil is now shorting out.... but if this is the case, would this short cool down fast enough to immediately restart the tractor? nothing fits! [Reply]   [No Email]
ASEguy 11-19-2012 11:35:15 204.184.80.25 Report to Moderator	To answer your question...no from my experience. Usually shorts cause heat and components usually don"t cool down that fast. I recently replaced a new ignition switch with less than one hour run time on it due to losing power at the coil. How it dies can be telling as well. In my experience fuel issues can cause a "floating away" before dying where electrical issues are more of a "key off" dying. Follow your evidence. Hope this helps. Gerard   [Reply]  [No Email]
