There appears to be a steel tube that carries oil from the iron cylinder head to the rocker arms......check to see if it is plugged and also determine if oil gets to the head casting when tube is removed.....can you run a small wire down into the head to see if the head gasket hole is lined-up in the right place to allow oil from the cam bearing to get up to the head? The parts book does not show cam bearings in the engine, so if there are none and if the problem is excessive clearance between cam journal and the bearing surface in the block, you may need to run an external oil line (tube) from some location to the rocker arm. This external oil tube installation was commonly done to get oil to the rocker arms of '54-'62 Y-block V-8 fords in the event that cam bearings become too worn to allow oil to get up to the heads. |
