Today while rummaging around in one of my parts piles I saw where I had taken a #80 roller chain apart several months ago and had some left over parts. I never throw away left over parts! Might find a use for them???
Anyway the pins from the #80 chain looked a lot like the dowel pins I buy fof my 8N lift adjusting jigs etc. So I got out my digital caliper and measured one against an original cam follower pin. The original one is .309 and the pins out of the chain are .311. So I think that in a pinch the pins out of a #80 roller chain could be used for the cam pin. Would have to cut it down because the roller pin is about 1-1/4" or so lond with a hole in one end.
The pins are hardened too.

Hi Zane-
I think the actual original size is 5/16" (.3125) as Ford used basic fractional sizes for everything. Your .309 pin is probably worn out-of-round -did you measure in three places? I would not worry about .003. If I had to use something in a pinch, I'd get 5/16 drill rod or bar stock and fab one -after I looked through all my old coffee cans of misc nuts and bolts!

I'm going to remeasure again but I've been told that the original cam follower pin is .003 smaller than the standard 5/16" dowel pin that I supply with my 8N lift adjusting jig kit.

Zane,
Thanks for the info. I think the pin on my jubilee is 5/16 = .3125. I may use the pin, a 5/16 ID bushing, or one roller bearing the next time I replace mine. My cam and levers are worn so much that I made my last pin out of 1/2 bolt and turned the one end down to 5/16. This gave me just enough to compensate for a worn parts. I'll use the pin see if I couldn't use a roller or a bearing to fit the pin. No more than I use my tractor, I think my 1/2 inch pin will last longer than I do.
