Did a bathroom remodel an painted the walls. Now the wife wants to put 3"x6" subway tile on one wall. Will the tile stick to the new paint? Thanks

This is a great site where I have learnt a lot about tiling and seen some pictures of incredible tile work - just as I have done here I taught myself to work on tile and have done quite a bit myself - nothing fancy but got the job done on two showers and a large kitchen and dining room which came out pretty good I thought!

The thinset will stick to just about anything as long as it does not have any oil or grease on it...I think you can even tile over glass or other tiles!

Thanks for your answers. I have already put on about 2,000 tiles in one part of the remodel now have to put up about 40 sq ft more in the wash room. LOL

if it's vertical on a wall use a smaller v-notch trowel to spread the tile mastic, not a square notch. the smaller grooves in the mastic give more contact of mastic to tile, or more surface area, and therefore it will hold to the wall better. the larger square notch trowels are only for floors.

Yes the glue applied with a trowel will hold it lay out tile first and make your cuts first make sure you keep tile straight and level
