Forum Members,
Special thanks to Dell and Old for assistance on M/S 241B carb questions. This afternoon I thoroughly cleaned and adjusted the extra 241/B. Was having trouble with the TSX 33. It would not accelerate to full speed nor govern correctly. With the 241B it now accelerates as it should-full throttle quadrant. With that comes the question, is the TSX 33 that different from the 241B. I can not believe the night and day difference between the two carbs. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Mr. T.;

Hope all my gibberish, did not confuse you, but, more-so will help ya understand, what goes on with these carbs, with at least the little bit of info. I gave you!!

If you find you would like MORE info......I probly can help you with the M/S instructions on what each circuit/passages, are and what they do.

Just email me for those if you want them, or any other info, on these M/S carbs.........I'll send what info I have to you via email, if I have it!!!

Too lengthy for posting it here on the forum!!!!! :lol:

My-self, and another member here (JMOR)....spent over 6-7 mos., of research, prior to me opening the 'Carb Shack'.....(that was about 4 1/2 yrs ago) SO...all that research has paid off MANY times over......and I am still learning!!!! :shock: :? :lol:

MY EMAIL.......ALWAYS open, on the modern side of this forum, at the bottom of my replies/posts!!

Gary :wink:

Mr. T.;

Here is some info. for you to get ya thinking about, the dif. of the M/S TSX33 vrs the TSX241 series carbs.

#1.... EVERY engine runs/breaths dif., and EVERY M/S carb will operate dif....(depending on how the carb is set up, to the engine!!)

#2.... There are Two dif. carb kits, offered on the market for the "N" series Ford tractors.......Listed here....:

(Note, the dif. in the Ford# of the carbs, in these listings)......:

#3..... read this attach. to/out of the Ford list of M/S carbs....(note, the engine ser#'s that go with each carb listed).....:

Here is a picture of some research done on the two carb kits listed above...... (NOT MY RESEARCH, but spot on for facts) (Note the dif. of the jets, and sizing of the orifaces, and, on the Main jet Nozzel used in each kit!!).....:

You specificly ask......:"is the TSX 33 that different from the 241B. I can not believe the night and day difference between the two carbs"

MY answer is.......YOU bettcha....dif. carb uses dif. jetting sizes, and has dif. passages for air to fuel mix.!!! Not to forget that the parts used on/in each carb, are parts that are sometimes NOT exactly manufactured to exact spec's!

(the land of ALMOST right)

Here are the jets sizing that I use.......:

Front mount distrib engine.....:

Side mount distrib. engine......:

I start searching for a bigger sized econo jet!!!!

I suspect that if you read all of this...., and on the TSX 33, use MY jet sizing, and set up the carb to your engine......YOU will be surprised at the change on how that TSX33 can run, when set up properly!!!

One size, FITs all..........NOT!!!!!! :evil:

Respectfully

Gary :)

Gary,
Appreciate the comprehensive explanation on differences between the 33 and 241 carbs. I tried to find specific info on the carbs on line,but found nothing as thorough as your info. Have been trying to figure out why it would not run correctly since July. Appreciate again your assistance!

If all is well on a TSX 33 it should work just fine but sounds like the main jet is clogged up some. For the most part the TXS33 and the TSX241, A, B,C are almost all the same just that the newer ones have things like a jet to save fuel in theory. All 4 carbs take the same carb kit

Old,
I will thoroughly go over the TSX 33 again tomorrow. Yesterday all openings seemed open.There is one thing I did not mention. Upon checking the 33 yesterday the main jet was bent about 15 to 20 degrees. Wonder if that was enough to lessen its fuel lifting capacity? When the 33 was in the 8N it would not accelerate to full speed. Any thoughts are welcome.
Thanks,
Mr. T. Minnesota

Main jet bent??? No way a jet can be bent because it is a little brass looking screw in part that has the jet hole in it. Now the main jet adjusting screw could be bent and that could cause some odd problems. As for looking good and clean looks are like the drunk guy in the bar picking up chicks. After a 12 pack most gals start to look good even when there not good. I use 3 things to check the passage ways. #1 compressed air, #2 spray carb cleaner and #3 I you a torch tip cleaner tool to poke the wires in all the passage ways to make sure they are open then do #2 again then #3 then back to 2 a couple times
