Does anyone know if the configuration of bolt holes on an 8N front mount distributor type motor are the same as a side mount distributor motor?

There"s a short window of time before a local recycling company will be scrapping an 8N I found today. I have already pulled off every good part I could get for 25 cents a pound. The motor looked clean inside the valve covers, but who knows what can be wrong until it can be magnafluxed. Don"t know if I"ll need one but what the heck, I"ve paid that much to watch an alligator romance a monkey. LOL

I will have some miscellaneous parts that won"t be needed & will try to post them at a later date.

Thanks for all the great advice & information.

To the best of my knowledge the blocks are the exact same except for the differences between right and left mounting of the generator. the oil filler tube is located differently. whether or not it is a front mount or side mount distributor is in the stuff bolted to the front of the block and, maybe, the cam.
Don't take this as gospel; but, I think I'm right.

block, same holes front. head, extra hole for coil mount on later 8Ns

I mis-read your question . Though you were asking about holes on FRONT of the 2 blocks.

All over the block deserves a different answer in addition to above:

*generator bosses & holes on left side of block on side mount distr blocks

*oil filter mt holes further to rear (this is on head)

*oil filler tube further to rear

*port on rt side bell-housing for viewing flywheel timing marks
