Didn't mean to offend anyone--sorry if I did! It's a useful trick to know for those who don't.
I've got nothing against 12V. I've got two 1949 vehicles--my 8N and a Willys CJ3A. Both are originally 6V, but the CJ has been converted to 12V. The 8N doesn't have the original Ford generator, but it does still have a 6V generator (Delco, I think).
I'm debating about whether to switch the 8N to 12V or the CJ back to 6V, so either both are original or both are converted. Probably leaning towards 12V.
(BTW, the charger I keep out at the cabin, where both live, is a 6/12 V model, which I bought specifically for that capability.)
