Born in Heron Lake and lived all over the state for 34 years. Saw a LOT of rural MinneSNOWta from the cab of the Schwan's truck. Lived in the Twinks for a while (Richfield, RIGHT BY THE AIRPORT) and had a trailer on the Mississippi near Lake City.

Visited a friend in Knoxville one February - warm weather, no rustout on the cars and low taxes. No one I spoke with had any idea what a snow rake was. Packed up the family, quit our jobs and moved to east TN for tax, mosquito and snow relief. Haven't looked back since.

Doug from east TN

I love Spam too!

I'm from Janesville, about 15-20 miles East of Mankato.

Not sure if 55 50 Ron ever checks this forum, but he's about 10-15 miles Northeast of me--just North of Waseca.

Re: minnesota in reply to stroik, 10-18-2012 11:31:41
I have spent the last 42 years on my place in NW Plymouth. But now the dozers and scrapers are running full time to make millionaires even more millions of $$$$. I have lost a lot of rented farming parcels to the new subdivisions, and as of this summer have lost a lot of sleep as fuel trucks refuel the dozers and scrapers at 3 a.m. and additional equipment is hauled in from 3:30 to 5:30 a.m. (so they avoid the weight restrictions and enforcement on our now badly beat-up gravel road). We have been living in a constant swirl of dust. Now they are going to destroy our road of over 100 years, and require us to drive through their hoitee-toitee subdivision of million $$ homes. Not a happy camper anymore!!

And for the bean counters who thought I made big $$ on this mess, .. not one single dollar. I refuse to let my homestead be bulldozed. I built it, and I intend to live out my full life here. Screw the big $$$ people.

P.S. I don't do 9N tractors either, but I do have 2 8Ns and another one on the way, plus some Farmalls, Molines, and 3 big Fords (8000, 9000, TW 10). Sometimes my son has 3 of his big Case IH's here too.

S,
Often wondered where the Minnesotans were from!! I have been in Brainerd for 40 plus years and came from the Iron Range. Have an 8N here in Brainerd and a 2N and '41 Cat up North at my man cave. Glad to know your whereabouts.
