I have narrowed my search to JD for a new tractor. I am deciding between the 5065E with front wheel assist and loader. Or a 5075E with loader, but two wheel.
My question is: The price difference between the 75hp two wheel and the 65hp 4wheel is about 3 grand. I don't plan on using this tractor to make a living, but how indispensable is the front wheel assist when using the bucket and so forth?
What are your opinions?
Also, the for this level of JD the Tier four doesn't set in for another year or so. It is the money and financing, and inflation, and price increases, about 15% that is now forcing this decision. |

| Tier IV... Millions, maybe billions in additional cost and expense to MAYBE save 12,000 from premature death by 2030. No wonder our competitive situation has gone to h$!!. |

| For a new tractor, the JD 5065E (65hp) with front wheel assist, and front end loader, is $27299 a fair price? I am having a bit of trouble feeling the market on this. Thanks. |

| | FWA is a major issue when using a FEL. I would not buy a two wheel drive tractor for use with a loader. I would, however buy something now, to avoid the forthcoming Interim Tier IV (and subsequent) regulations. The complexity, price increase and operating expense increase will be significant. I took delivery of a new 60 PTO HP MF FWA (Tier II) with FEL about 3 weeks ago to avoid an estimated $5,000 - $6,000 price increase. I looked at a new Interim Tier IV 9940 Kubota, and have no intention of ever working on anything so complex. Dean |

Personally I will never have another 2WD tractor except as a collector item. Adds significantly to abilty to power a loader into material.

| I don't have a John Deere, but I do have a Kubota with a loader, 4 wheel drive and power steering. I think both the 4 wheel drive and the power steering are useful when doing loader work. Just my opinion, I am sure others may have different ideas. |
