I am thinking hard about purchasing a 60+ hp kubota with the front end loader and front wheel assist. I also do not think that Romney would relax the new standards to any degree. I want a motor and tractor that will work and Kubota has a great reputation on the forum and in my community as a worker that won't quit as long as you take basic care of it. I also could use a tractor in the higher hp variety such as 60+ and would have front wheel assist and the loader. I know orange, like green, has a premium, but I like tools that work well when new. The MF complies to Tier II regs and will no longer be available after Jan 01 when Tier IV is phased in. Replacement models will be significantly more expensive. Kubota has elected to use particulate filters rather than DEF on their higher HP tractors but the filters require frequent replacement and are EXPENSIVE, rendering the overall cost of operation similar to that of DEF systems. Dean 09-27-2012 07:51:01 67.172.15.77 Report to Moderator	Re: OT-Cost of 10ft Shredder in reply to G6 at Snook, TX, 09-27-2012 05:29:31   Like Japanese auto manufacturers, Kubota has done a very good job of engineering/inspecting out initial defects, which is the aspect of "quality" most noticeable to the typical consumer. There are, of course, other measures of quality. Though I cannot speak to JD, I have had few recent issues with CNH quality (aside from some service parts from aftermarket suppliers). On the other hand, I have had NO issues with Kubota quality. Caveat: Kubota's new 60 series tractors (replacing the M**40 series) are now arriving at dealers. These machines conform to the nonsensical Tier IV federal regulations and are SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive. If you want a 6040 or 7040 you should buy it now. Dean [Reply]  [No Email]

I believe that same cutter is likely 3200$ now. look in for sale areas.. I see big mowers going cheap. there is a 16' drag mower near me in Great condition for 2500$OBO I bought my 15' jd batwing for 2500$ off craigslist/local for sale/newspaper add.. needed a lil tlc.. but cuts nice. soundguy [Reply]  [No Email]

I bought a new Woods MDS 1260, 10 1/2' mounted cutter about 2 1/2 years ago. The mower has optional hydraulic adjustable tail wheels and F & R chain shielding. List is about $10K. IIRC I paid $7000. I have an 85 hp Kubota with a 7' Woods mower. The mower gearbox is rated for 205 hp. I don"t plan on ever wrecking it! [Reply]  [No Email]
