Well, how are we liking "Global Warming" so far ? I know it is DRY in a lot of places. Here (West Coast of Canada) it is dryer than a popcorn phart. Just heard on the news - Aug. Normal 32mm of rain, we got 2.9mm -Sept. Normal 57mm, we got 3.2mm. Getting scary, I am on my own dug well and have 6000 gals. (in 3 plastic tanks) of stored water (down to 1.5 tanks). With just the wife and I we use about 80 gals per day (including watering some flowers). Dasn't throw the old smokes butts other than into designated water buckets (plastic coffee cans with a hole drilled in the lid). How are you folks doin' ??

south-central Minnesota: Dry all summer, never more than a third of an inch rain at a time, and then not very often. I've been hauling water to new apple and plum trees to keep them going. Thought I had lost some transplanted spirea bushes -- all turned brown and crispy despite watering -- but now they seem to be leafing out again, although I doubt they'll survive the winter too well unless it's mild. I had a small, south-facing roofing job to do on my house this summer and couldn't do it because the shingles were too hot to touch all day long most days (and it's no fun shingling a 9/12 pitch in the dark). Surface temp was 174 degrees -- about 15 degrees hotter than needed to kill e coli bacteria in ground beef; actually caused first-degree burns on the palms of my hands, and cloth gloves just stuck to the seal-down strips. Finally finished a couple of weeks ago, thanks to some hazy days. I hope the winter is as relatively hot and dry as summer was. I hate the cold and snow.

Spokane WA, wet spring, long dry summer. Just have a garden. Watered the tomato plants out of 5 gal buckets and gallon milk jugs. Gets the water warm, makes tomaters happy. Also, set the plants 9 ft apart each direction ns-ew. Our season is short and that method seems to do well.

Central Ohio... hot and very dry all summer, many 90+ degree days. Rains have returned but still below normal. Early corn and bean crop seems to have done OK, later corn looks like sweet corn stalks with little nubby ears. Second crop beans behind wheat look sad, short stalks with few pods on them. My pastures dried up and have had to feed hay non-stop. Hay not gotten early is precious. I've seen advertised for sale at $7-8 per bale. Temps now have been below normal for this time of year, mostly, especially at night.

Here in south central Pennsylvania we are on track to have a normal amount of rain fall this year. We had a dry spell in July into August but since then it seems to rain at least once a week. There are even a few mushrooms growing in the yard. I have not needed to water my garden from the rain barrels in 6-8 weeks. Time to drain them and hook the down spouts back up. Last year we had almost twice the average annual amount of rain. Temperatures are now feeling like fall. Overall it has been a relatively average weather year so far.

We're in the worst drought since '88 here. We haven't had any precipitation since the first weekend of August and only about 3.5" since the end of May. Central MN isn't as bad as other parts of the country and corn and beans actually have pretty good yields, but this drought is not making farming very fun.

NW MO- hto and dry all summer. Started with a little rain last days of Aug, but a total of 5.5 inches so far. Chance for some more tonight. I have sinking foundations issues, mudjacker told me they are digging 8 to 9 feet deep before they are seeing any moisture. Cooler temps and rain has the eggplants and peppers blooming!

Ya now that is has cooled off some and we have rain a lot of the garden stuff is trying to make a come back but I do think it is to little to late and all they will do if bloom then get bit by frost in say 30 or so days. Where I had a pumpkin rot I have a bunch of plants growing but I know they will not grow fast enough to do any thing more then die off

S.E Michigan set numerous records all summer long for tempts. No rain to speak of either. Finally getting lots of rain now that the crops and gardens are all burnt up. Temps about 10 degrees above normal still.
