Not much could be done with the hood. It was pretty rotten. Didn't turn out too bad. Maybe new doglegs soon. She starts and runs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kV_JeaLC1aM Need to repair the stock starter button mechanism. The little push rod is still in there, but it doesn't move a bit. The PO welded the draglink to the tie rods and also welded the front spindles to the arms. Need to grand all that off and see if they can be saved. [Reply]   [No Email]

The 8N quit after mowing two pasture fields and had to sit for a couple of months while we dealt with other issues (like a tree on the house!). I rebuilt the carb (put that carb on the 9N and put its on the 8N, had to keep on tractor running and the 9 was the only one) and did another tune up with new parts this time (not just resetting everything) and cleaned the distributor (front mount). Fired right up and got it moved out of the pasture. Luckily the llamas left it alone, I've had them pull wires off before. Still need to crank in the new plugs and replace the key switch and I can mow again!   [Reply]  [No Email]

I weld, repair and fabricate a lot of parts and tools it seems too. I don't think I would ever weld on wear parts though, have a little compassion for the next guy! Some guys do great work welding stuff up, and then there are others like the guy that "fixed" this 2N steering pitman arm.   [Reply]  [No Email]

This Winter will be time to tear those parts down and see how much damage was done. Glad to hear your opinion about how the engine sounds. I have never heard one run personally.   [Reply]  [No Email]
