While I've got everything torn down to rebuild the engine, I thought it would be a good time to clean out the radiator. I don't think I've ever mentioned it, but I do HVAC work, so I've got several kinds of coil cleaner on hand, which I was thinking about using to clean the inside of the radiator. A few questions I have, is the radiator aluminum? Some of the coil cleaner I have is a strong alkaline based foaming cleaner... it foams on contact with bare aluminum and cleans VERY well. Somebody said I'll end up causing leaks by cleaning it "too" well and end up actually removing the gunk that's keeping it from leaking, so now I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't do that. I know if I use that Alki-Brite it will look like brand new afterwards, but maybe I'm going a little too far and need to just use vinegar? |

| tn8n........unless yer N-Radiator is custom rebuild, original N-Radiators were "copper" based core. White vinegar is safe for copper. CAUTION: the "fins" on old radiators are easily un-stuck from the tubes causing OVERHEATING. ........cool Dell |
