12V conversion and bad coil

My conversion has been running for several years
with out any flaw. But recently I was running and
ran out of fuel. When I tried to start it after
puting fuel, I had no spark. I installed a 6v
coil, which is what I was using. it stared right
up. I ran several more days then one day I started
it and shut it down right away and then it would
not start. I trouble shot it to find the ballast
resistor was bad. I had another it ran fine...
then I started it shut it down real quick again
and the resistor is bad again. problem is the
resistors from TSC don't have enough resistance to
them. I think I need to change to 12v coil.. oh
yea this is a front mount coil. bummer..

BBT.

i've not seen the oem ballast resistors at tsc.. only some conversion resistors. the conversion resistors are not a repalcement for the oem ballast resistor.

if on 12v.. I'd get the common 2.5 ohm 12v coil and a conversion resisotr that kept primary current under 4a. alternately, the OEm ballast resistor is still a good fit in that swaparooney...

As SoundGuy said, the original ballast resistor and a 12 volt coil work well.
Replacement resistors do not have the same temperature coefficient as the originals.
