Is it possible to install power steering on any of the little Ford tractors like the 8-N ?
I have a front loader with a Round Bale pole and can barely turn the wheel.
Thanks, Rusty

An old friend says this, those little Fords were never meant to have a loader on them.

You are trying to do something that an N really isn't suited for.
As others have suggested hanging an immense weight off the back end would help a lot.
But you are overloading your tractor at that point and that is when things break and people get hurt.
A 3 point bale spear wouldn't be so painfully hard on the poor tractor.
Ns are much more adept at hauling weight off the back than the front.

I have an 8 N with a Sauder loader that hangs way off the front. If I pick up anything heavy it is very hard to steer. I took a 55 gallon barrel and filled it with 480 pounds of concrete and hung it off the back 3 point hitch using chains. That did not give it power steering but made a big improvement.

as others said.. probably better to get a more capable tractor.. however.. that said.. if you have a front pump setup.. you can get a priority valve to divert flow to a ps setup..

again.. big $$$

I'm with the others here. I'd really think about trading up.

So how are you keeping the rear tires on the ground?? If them bales are of any size I can not see you moving them with an 8N. I have an 801/841 with a loader and I have to have a back blade on and that has about 700lbs of extra weights on it to hold it down but I do move 6X6 bales that are very heavy. And yes you could rig up power steering but it would probably cost you a grand or more

Can you add some weight to the back to take weight off the front?

Cheaper to sell your tractor and buy a newer one with PS + quite few other modern amenities.

Yes---here is one way of getting it done. Might be cheaper buying a later version ford with the P.S. on it....

No Connection,

Possible, yes, but it is no where near cheap.

One source for power steering

I've never used their products, so I can't comment on them directly.
