First, is there a moderator or admin person here that can find my old ID and password? If so email me at mike @ mikeinkaty.com2nd, I ask a few weeks ago about getting a Sherman to shift of high range. Well, last tuesday as I was running the brushhog (in 1st gear) it popped out on it"s own and I then was able to shift it to the standard Ford transmission. Thank for all the previous help which basically said "keep trying, it will come loose someday", which it did! |

| If you have been brush hogging in over drive that is a tad bit hard on the hog being that the over drive also increases PTO speed |

| | I kept it in 1st gear and went slow. no brush, just some heavy weeds, and tall grass. Also use limiter chains to keep the blade tilted slightly upward in the back. |

| But the thing is the gear box is made to run at 540RPM and in over drive they are running more like 850RPM or more and that can be unsafe. Think what happens if a blade brakes and they do I have had it happen and that blade fly's off and hits something. Years ago I was brush hogging with my Oliver 77 and had a blade brake and I looked for that blade and never have found it |

| When mine broke it went thru the side of the deck and flew another 15'. Glad it didn't come out the front, miss the metal and hit the rear tire. It would have ruined the tire or anything it hit. Taught me a cheap lesson. DON TX |

| Well it's not like I had any choice. The Sherman was stuck in Hi range for about a year. Now that it popped out and I have it in regular gear then all is good again. |
