RJ;

Before ya go trying to dig around on the Other jets,....go back and read what DELL, says about the "Right tool", to use for getting those jets to loosen up and out.

I use a dif. method for removing jets than Dell uses, but...the results are pretty much the same.!!

I use PB Blaster, in the passages to loosen up the jets first......then apply the right down pressure with the "Right size screwdriver"!!! Spray the passages for the other two jets full of PB Blaster, and over a 24 hr., or until they break free, gentle tap the screwdriver handle, to let the PB, get into the threds of the passage, and around the jets.

Hopefully, you have not broken the jet top, and messed up the screwdriver slots, on the other jets.!!! If the slots are broken off the jets.....there is only ONE way to get them out!!!!!!! You are going to have to DRILL them out!!, AND ya better know what you are doing to accomplish that, with out messing up the jets passages, and threds there-in!!!!!

Would also be nice for you to post which carb you are working on!!!???

There are many Marvel/Schebler TSX carbs, utilized on the "N" series tractors, and you/we will have to know, which replacement jet orifaces, go into your TSX carb for the '51' 8N!!!!

Here is a sheet/pic. that shows the M/S listing for which carbs are used!!!

BTW.....: Yes, the threds, that have already been buggered up, can be re-thredded, with a tap of the right size!!! DELL, already gave you the thred size for the IDLE jet.!!!

Post back for any more info. you need.......AND I suspect....if this is your first time.....you will be back!!!!

JMHO......: If you have not messed up the "Other" jets yet, and you are just doing a clean-up on that carb......leave the other jets alone, and clean up the carb with soaking the carb in a can of carb cleaner, and wire out the passages. Then blow out all the gunk/rust, with about 70-85lbs of compessed air.

NEW jets are avail. in the comprehensive carb kits, just make sure to get the right kit, that covers your CARB. TSX# , and yr. of "N" engine!!!!!!!

Gary :wink:

Your posted sheet omits the 8N carb TSX-241C used in 1952 production which was a poorly built carb and it again deleted the economizer jet. It was quickly superceded by the TSX-241B.

RJ........iff'n yer really certain what you messed up is the idlejet, according to my notes in the MPC, (master parts catalog) its a 10-32 thread. Always use hollow-ground gunsmithing screwdrivers otherwize yer wedge shaped screwdriver will ruin yer soft brass jets. You can regrind yer V-shaped wedgies into straight sided (ie...hollow-ground) blades by holding them to the side of yer grinder wheel. Simple, eh?

Iff'n yer talkin'bout the side-pointing spring-loaded idlemix, I don't know the thread specs.

As fer gittin the other soft BRASS jets out, try boiling yer castiron carb in HOT water (seriously) as castiron expands faster than brass and will make the SOFT brass jet eazier to loosen .......respectfully, Dell

All you have to do is wait for your neighbor in MT (Gary) to pipe in. May take a month or 7. ;^)
