Have recently converted my '52 8n to 12 volt, replaced the carb, new electronic ignition. Now it seems to run faster than normal. While working in any gear at normal speed (harrowing, dragging) the throttle will suddenly drop off to idle speed. Constantly have to readjust. Might it be the governor needs replaced? Thanks for your help! |

| Detergent and would you believe that the owners manual says to use 40W oil in the summer?? Me I use 30W in most of my tractors all year around but in my state it does not stay very cold for very long |

| I would not use 20 wt oil. I use 15W40 in all my old tractors. |

| | JT........didja know electronic ignition will generally speed-up engine idle??? It means yer old points were burned and bad. New points $20, electronic ignition $140, good exchange, eh? As fer yer sudden drop-off to idle speed, that is a LOOSE LINKAGE problem, NOT GOVERNOR. You just replaced yer carb, wanna guess why yer links are loose??? .......respectfully Dell, the tite link |

| Thanks, Dell. Yeh, 20 vs 140, I know. Son with deep pockets got tired of replacing points. Will check linkage. Hopefully, the problem. Appreciate! |

| You saying you replaced the carb says the linkage is binding from the gov to the carb and that is where your problem most likely is |
