54 ford naaa, 12 volt setup, like i said in my previouse post, copper ribbon broke, fell down in side of distribiter, made a other ribbon, hooked it up, no fire to points, new points, new condenser, new coil, and new resister. tractor was running fine until thecopper ribbon broke. made a other one, hooked it up, no sparkies to point and no fire from coil to distribiter, sounds like something is grounding out, hooked test light up, lightcomes on positive side of coil, and negitive side of coil as long as that short wire isnt hooked up to the side of dist, hook short wire to side of dist light goes out, short wire is grounding out for some reason, causing no sparkies to points, any ideals, nolan |

Ok, then I think we're on the right track checking that pass-through on the
side of the distributor.
Let us know what you find! |

| AWXTX gave you the same suggestion I did a few minutes ago on your other post.
But now that I think about it, are your points open or closed?
If they're closed, that should be grounded. |

| There is a stud that passes through an insulator that fits in the hole in the side of the distributor. Sounds like the insulator may be cracked. You can buy a new stud and insulator kit. Some guys just run the wire from the coil all the way through the hole and connect it directly to the points. Be sure to fill the hole with RTV if you do that. |
