Spent a couple of hours this morning raking hay with my new to me 8N. Steering still needs a little work (think it needs new bushings) buth it ran great and when I went to shut it down was showing 15 PSI oil pressure at idle.

It is a member of the turnip family, and it produces a lot of leaf in a short time in cool weather. |

| Good update Rick. I can't say I got any seat time myself... I was up at the lake this weekend and the tractor got used about 3 1/2 hours with the brush mower on it. But alas, not me running it. A good friend of mine - a city guy all his life - has been wanting to go up and drive a tractor. So this was the weekend. We went up Saturday morning and I put him to work mowing my field. It's easy - no obstacles, etc. I was doing a couple of repairs on my camper and kinda keeping one eye on him. Every time he came around he'd have a big grin on his face. I think he was sorry when it was done. We left Sunday morning and hit the tractor show at NowThen, MN on the way home. I dropped him off at home Sunday evening tired but happy. I suspect he was envied around the water cooler Monday morning bragging about his weekend. |

I know more than one city boy who loved getting the chance to drive a tractor. I like to start em out spreading poo.

| Colin, I'm going to need about 15 more big rounds to be good for the winter. I may have to cut a little road ditch to make it. What I have down now should make about 4-5 1800 pounders.
Been thinking about trying to put some more hay in as an early fall planting but if we don't get some rain I'll wait till spring. Never tried fall planting hay so it would only be about 10 acres as an experiment.

Ever think about rape as a fall planting? I remember that the extension people used to push it as a fall planting because it comes up pretty quick, it is hardy, and you can graze it even after snow fall. |

| | That's great, Rick! How's your hay holding up with this dry weather? Looks like our neighbors will be able to cut their third crop in a week or so. Colin, MN |
