Ive recently acquired a 3 cylinder gas ford 2000. its one of those running when i parked it there 2 years ago and i know its true cuz i was there when it got parked lol. Do these have any common quirks that I would need to know about it, i assume it would have live hydros, it also has what i guess is a sherman combo, or at least something that works the same way, any tips are appriciated, thanks in advance

Elvin,
They are great tractors.
When I was looking to upgrade from an N - 8 or 9 years ago I looked long and hard - for a year - for a 660 or 661. I had the dough and would have traveled.
Never did find a decent one that wasn't all worn out. Finally took the leap and bought a 68 2000 gasser. Looking back it's the best thing I ever did.
Nothing too quirky on them. Points are a bit hard to change. Never trust the hours on the proofmeter as they failed early.
Basically they are a stripped down 3000 though the later ones were so close to being identical to a 3000 that I don't know why they built the two different models.
All Fords built after 1953 have live hyds.
Hey Old,
The early 3 cyl tractors did have an optional Sherman combo in them. I think the Sherman name was gone by then and they were installed by Ford at the factory. They are not very common - I have never seen one as most people would buy the 6 or 8 speed tranny with optional LPTO instead.

Ah Sherman like but Sherman from what I understand was gone by then and yep it was a true ford transmissions at that time. Of course there is one guy who may jump in and tell me I have no clue because he owns a Ford dealer ship. But I also know he does not know it all since I did a check of what he said and the manual had no info

2000 HP is rated at 33. 3000 is 37
There have been several discussions on the Ford board on how the 2000/3000 got different HPs as they ran indentical 158 CI engines.
Best we could come up with is the 3000 is goverened about 200 rpm faster and possibly different jetting in the carb.

I said sherman because it has a (1) shifter on top of the tranny and then the other one is on the side of the tranny similar to the sherman, i'm not familiar at all with one of these so it will be a learning experience

Live hyds yes that came out back on the Jubilee and has been ever since. Maybe a live PTO and also No way that is has a Sherman those stopped I think with the 801 series but that one is way to new for them any how but could well have a hi/low sort of set up.

Ford used their own auxiliary over and under that shifted the same as the shermans in the 3 cylinder tractors.
