I just purchased a 1946 2n front dis. Has been converted 2 12 volt system w/ei and new carb,he also installed volt meterw/ new wiring harnessbut never got it running. Ive checked wiring looks ok according to yt wiring diagrams getting spark air gas cranks good wont start can distributor b installed backwards, does it make a difference with ei[both tabs on dis are same size] just want opinions before i start ripping THANKS FOR HELP startin out

| Did you check the firing order? Just how good is it cranking? If she's spinning real fast compression could be an issue.

| Had a similar problem, make sure you don't have a ceramic resistor in the coil wiring system.

|  " can distributor b installed backward' No. You will break it if you do. " both tabs on dis are same size" No, they are not. The tang is offset; one side is wider than the other to fit the corresponding offset on the end of the cam. Put your reading glasses on! EI's will not fire on low voltage. Charge the battery. Or jump it (see tip # 43 first) If that doesn't work, some of the EI guru's will be along soon to help you out. They will need to know the make & model of the unit. The EI fans around here will probably remain silent though!
