IT PULLED OUT A COUPLE INCHES BY HAND, THEN I HAD TO USE A PRY BAR BEHIND IT AND IT CAME OUT.
ABOUT MIDWAY OF SPLINES, I CAN SEE IT'S GOT A SLIGHT TWIST.
IS IT SAFE TO REUSE ?

thanks everyone, took me about 5 minutes with a chainsaw file and a piece of sandpaper.
It slides perfect now.

Any of you guys ever seen a twisted original 1-1/8 shaft? I never have. I believe they were made of much superior steel. Henry always advertised that his N steel was Vanadium steel.

What is Vanadium?? I have read I think that it is made from iron ore from somewhere in South America from a mine he owned.

I have used a file that fit the spline and filed it back straight,,, made a post about it many moon ago... Your call i guess the tractor I did it on is long gone not my problem anymore... I have seen it a few times it even put a twist inside the coupler at the PTO support... Good luck... Me I would buy a new one and save the old one for a property stake... I have a dozen lay'n around maybe ones very good (Not for sale)the rest are to worn for my like'n,,, if Jim.UT said he had a good'n and I needed one I would consider it...

No.

You will need to torch it off to get it out next time if it twists more.
