i put on a new carb on my jubilee the problem now is surging, at around 1200 rpm the engine surges dramatically almost unusable, it didnt do that with the old carb and placing my hand on the governor rod stops it, now the spring, which is on the upper rod going to the hand throttle is pretty loose, im guessing this is the problem, the manual i have only covers adjustment for top end 2200 rpm, does anybody know how to adjust the spring and what it should be like? thanks |

| This is the procedure I used.
Have the backend of both rods loose. With the governor arm held back at its most rear position and the carb throttle shaft at its rear position (high idle) adjust the (short lower) rod to a just fit position. Now adjust the idle screw on the carb throttle shaft out (counter clockwise) until it is just off the stop. Now hold the governor arm forward and have the throttle lever on the dash up or idle position, adjust the throttle rod (top ,with spring)to a just fit position. remember to reajust the adle screw to idle at 575 rpm or so when running.
I forgot who wrote it, I picked it up somewhere along the way - works nicely. |
