Is there a way to tighten up front axle to eliminate it form coming up to fare when going on a dip on left side or going over a hup on the right side. The right steering bar is alway hitting the altinater which is after market 12 volt system it sits aprroximately in the same place as the original. The original generator had marks where it had been being hit also. |

| Thanks SoundGuy and Jock sounds like there is a fix to my problem. I don't use the tractor much but it gets real annoying when I do and it knocks my altinater loose. I think it is definetly a problem in this area. Thought my oil fill tube was just vibrating out but think it is beeing knock out buy the left steering rod also. I will jack it up and check it out when I have a chance. |

| | as jock said. if it's not a ridiculessly low and wide out alt, then it is almost always axle pin/bushing slop at the front bolster. real fix is obvious. pull bolster repin and bush and repair bolster and axle center as needed. the quick, gotta work this week; fix is to weld a big hex nut to the axle stop so the axle bottoms and simply can't rotate that high on the offending side..

| | Many times problems like this are related to a worn out pin and/or bushing at the front axle pivot point. The front bolster where the pin rides can get wallowed out from wear, too. The extra slop allows the axle to move upward too far and hit things, like the distributor cap on front mounts. Try dacking up the front of the tractor by the oil pan and moving the axle to check for slop. |
