1/2 OT: 2N has a new chariot!

I began working on the 2N's limo in January as the opportunity arose on the weekends and evenings during school. I got the finishing touches on to make it usable (all new electrical, brakes, lights, tie-downs, expanded metal shelves and tires) in mid May the day before I came home for the summer. Today was the first chance I've had to give the old 2N a ride (and test out the trailer with a load). Now all I have left to do is scavange up some steel to make ramps and it'll be completely done!

Nice looking trailer do you need fenders in your state.

Well, technically yes, but I'm kind of going on the old addage "If you're going to do something, do it all the way." To be legal, its got to have tags, fenders, safety chains and a break away braking system. I opted out of all these features for several reasons.

Fenders - If I were to add fenders, I would lose the valuable tie-downs that fall within the wheels because it is not a full width deck-over. Also, I have a 3rd axle for it ready to go if I need/want it...6 bolts and its in. With the 3rd axle, the fender situation would be slightly akward having either a 3 axle fender with a large blank space in the front, or using a 2 axle fender with a single axle fender in front with the same result as the 3 axle fender, and with just a 2 axle fender, the 3rd axle would be left uncovered in the event it's in use.

Tags - Legally, this trailer has to be tagged, but the farthest I forsee it travelling is within a 15 mile radius and mostly about 5 miles. I did take it to school with me, about 85 miles as soon as I got it but that was so that I could make it functional and "safe" to operate.

So...long story short, since I'm not going to tag it, and I really didn't want to spend the money on the other features, I figured, "well, it's not going to be legal anyway, so why spend the money on all that other stuff..."
