Can anyone tell me where's the best place to install a mechanical oil pressure gauge on a 1951 Ford 8N, and how much pressure I'm I looking for? |

If you are talking about a mechanic's test gauge connect it at the NPT tapped oil in the top right rear of the block. Remove the brass tee used to connect the steel lines to the OEM oil pressure gauge and oil filter and reinstall it after taking your readings. Take care not to overtighten the fittings to guard against cracking the block. An N in good condition should have 20+ PSI at hot idle. A lot are considerably lower.

| | It came w/ one on the right side of the dash board. Isn't there a ho;e in your dashboard? At idle & operating temp, anything greater than 5 lbs is ok. 10 is great. At 3/4 throttle, 25 - 30 is good. |
