12V Conversion

I am installing a 12v conversion on a 2N that is going to be a worker. I usually stick with the original 6v charging system when rebuilding the N tractors, but I found a good deal on a complete alternator conversion kit. What size of cranking amps for a 12v battery would you guys who have done the conversion recommend? There are a lot more options for lighting and accessories too which seems to be an advantage of having the 12v.

I always go with the most CCA I can find that will still fit into the battery box area. The more you have the better off you are

ood advise I had a good 12v when I converted my 8N, but couldn't get it in the box.

Just get a 12 volt battery that will fit the box at a price you think is a good deal. Any 12 volt battery that will fit the box will have more CCA then you will need. When I did my last 12 volt conversion I took my old 6 volt battery to Advance Auto and purchased a 12 volt battery that had the same dimensions. They took my old 6 volt battery as a core trade in.

I second this. I went to Interstate batteries, got a "refurb" battery for $40 traded the 6v in for the core charge. Walked out with a battery and a smile on my face. I believe you want a battery in group 35, but I could be wrong.
