Home Made Spark Plug Conduit

Hi All,

Just a note and some pic's on the new spark plug wire conduit that I made for Fisher the 8N. I like the looks that having the spark plug wires inside the conduit. I hate having to mangle it around to get the head bolts/nuts torqued and fishing the plug wires through it is always a joy. Fisher the 8N didnt have the conduit on it when I bought it and had been converted to a round coil so the addition of the coil wire to the bundle was going to overcrowd to standard conduit. I talked to my local muffler dude and had him bend a piece of 1 1/2" dia tube with a 90 degree bend and a 10 degree bend for the offset. This cost me $15. I left some extra on the ends to trim off as needed. I wanted to make the conduit removable to get at the head nuts/bolts -- so I welded a bracket on the front that bolts to the alternator bracket and a T bracket that is clamped between the oil filter mounting bracket and the head. I also will have a temperature sending unit wire going through the conduit along with the alternator wires.

I like it. I like it mostly because it don't mount with head bolts.. and it's bigger for easier wireing.

sand the edges so they don't cut wires

good job.. looks great.

Thanks All--

I flared the ends using a torch and pipe flaring tool and used a die grinder for deburring the spark plug wire holes. Ill put some grommets in them

A length of heat shrink tube or the individual wire loom would be my choice. It will be fun feeding wires.Ford loom holes are oval and have eyelets in them.

it's so big though.. I think he will have no problem feeding them.. and he set he was adding the grommets too.

on my 20 I have my wires loomed with zip ties.. works just as well.. not as nice as a metal tube though..

back when spark plug wires were 7mmm it wasn't as hard.. with all new 8mm wires out now.. that tube gets crowded...

I like my wire ties just fine, and have the original loom hanging on a post in the shop.
