12 Volt Trick

For those of you wanting to use a 12 volt winch to lift your front mount plow, you do not have to go to all the trouble of converting your 6 volt system, For the amount of $ it will cost you to convert you can buy a very good 12 volt deep cycle battery and use that as your 12 volt supply, a fully charged battery will last you many, many snows, if you want to add 12 volt lights just add another battery, (+ to +) (- to-). This way you 6 volt can stay right in place. add a little trickle charger and your set. WORKS GREAT!

I built a sprayer 20 years ago that went on the 3 point hitch. It had its own 12 v battery that ran a long time on a charge.

With cold weather starting issues why would you want to stay 6 volt? Great connections, good starter, fresh tune up and the ole N still will not start when it's -0F or colder without the help of a 12 volt jump. This is my first year with an N so I stayed 6 volt till I saw how it was going to act. It's getting a 12 volt conversion and an engine heater before next winter! Same with the M Farmall. It don't like it when the temps drop below zero too much but I gotta have em running.
