12 volt conversion kit belt

I am having a problem with the belt on 12 volt conversion kit I purchased. The kit is an AKT0001 which is supplied with a PIX - 41B (5L-440) belt. The outside of belt measures 43 inches. I have tried every thing to get this belt on the pulley. Won't fit. Anyone else had this problem...need help. I wonder if they supplied me with the wrong belt. 8N with front mount distributor.

You may have to take the alt off install the belt then install the alt,,, if it works that way you good to go...

I have solved similar problems with a tool made for installing bicycle tires.They're about 4" long,about 5/8" wide and made of plastic.I got a pair at Wal-Mart,in the kids section.You can put the pry tool between the belt and pulley,then hit starter[key OFF]and the belt should slip on.---lha

Thanks for the info...I think the belt they sent me is a little short by 1 inch. I noticed that several other companies selling a simular product uses a belt that is 1 inch longer. I am going to try a larger belt and see where that goes.
