12 Volt Conversion, easy NOT..... Help???

So any way I bought a 12 volt conversion kit from this site to do later this winter.

Well as my son and I were trying to put on the front end loader, we busted the pully for the generator, guess I'm putting the alternator on early.

So we began the project late morning, the instructions seemed like they were written in French, while we were at it we put in an electronic ignition.

Also stripped all the old wires and chaned the amp meter.

I need some help figuring out what wires go where?

So were does the red and brown wires go (longer pair taped together),

?- red from back of alternator to amp meter?
?- brown from coil to where?

Red wire from electronic ignition to what resistor, there is no resistor it says to hook it to?

Anyway I'm so frinkin lost, anybody got any suggestions?

The resistor stuff is really confusing to me as well.

I don't know maybe it over my head.

PS

We did change spark plugs and plug wires and alternator mounted and ready to go, dam wires.

irst we/I need to know what tractor. Next, colors are meaningless on conversion kit wiring harnesses as they depend on the kit maker. Post a scan of the instructions that you have and I can likely straighten you out. If you don't know how to post a scan, then e-mail it to me at the address you find for me in Modern View (not in Classic view). What is Pertronix EI part number, too?

Yep we need to know what tractor you have and if it is a front or side mount. Ya I have seen you here many times but I can not remember what tractor you have. Wiring one up for me at least is child's play but zap-u-trons was what I did in the navy plus I have done so many 12 volt conversion I can almost do them in my sleep. Also as for colors of wires just go to an auto parts store and look at all the pretty colors of wire they sell then you know why JMOR says what he did about the wires since any body can use any color they want

that's wasn't a good combination to do at the same time.

it would have been much better to put the alt on.. get it running.. perhaps the wire harness at the same time.. then swap to ei.

is the ei a 12v unit?

have you gotten a 12v coil like a napa ic14sb?

we need more details.

Still an easy one I use O'Reilly's part number VR-! for the ballast resister but you still have to use the factory one also. As for wiring it also easy if using a Delco 10SI. the big post wire goes to the battery + side or amp gauge the 2 wires from the plug goes this way #2 to the big post on the alternaotr and the #1 by way of a diode like the radio shack 276-1661 goes the the ignition switch the sdie that is hot when turned on

Uhhh....I think there was a disconnect between the old brain & keyboard.
"As for wiring it also easy if using a Delco 10SI. the big post wire goes to the battery + side of amp gauge ...". Don't think that came out as you intended, did it?
