Fuel shut off, sediment bowl type

Has anyone bought and is using the new aftermarket shut offs offered by many sources?? How well are they made and do they hold up?? I stripped the threads for the fuel line on mine and can't find a reasonably priced original with the round knob. I'm using one with a lever handle that I had but it does't have the two different sized feed tubes on top and I can't tell whether it's on or off.

I bought a replacement unit from TSC that was a piece of chinese crap. It lasted for a couple of months. Best advice is to find a New Holland dealer and get a genuine replacement part.

(quoted from post at 09:52:21 01/26/10) I have 2 from nnalert's & they work fine. All I ever buy from TSC for my N's is their sediment bowl screen & gaskets, p/n 0237144.
50 Tips

I have two coming from nnalert today, to replace the aftermarket ones on my 2 8N's.

This is not original by any means but to keep from wearing out my sediment bowl shut-off valve I keep it open and installed an inline brass finger T-valve between the sed-bowl and carb. This way my carb won't flood (which it always has even after rebuild). I have used the valve at least 1000 times so far with no problems.

Richard, there's always another solution to a problem. Get you one of the latest...electric fuel shut-off value. Like this one.. Cost: about $60.00. Wire it up to the ignition switch and your worries have ended on if the shut-off is closed or not. In this case you can leave the shut-off open.
My 51st Tip.

Do you have some problem reading or comprehending what is written? The man has stripped threads in the sediment bowl. Just what is that device that the $60 electric fuel cutoff assembly screws into? How is he going to connect the gadget if the threads are stripped in the sediment bowl?

Of course, if you think that an EI doesn't need a rotor & doesn't have transistors in it, I should expect you to think that he doesn't need threads in the sediment bowl either.

When are you going to post that link to the new 8N? "Ford New Holland is coming out with a "Original" 8N tractor, just like the old one...same engine, same fenders, hoods, you wouldn't tell the old versus the new apart."

I’ve got you figured out.

Because you say I’m both stupid & delusional, and that folks around here “ shouldn’t trust the 50 tip man”, you are compiling your own list of tips! Tell you what, I’ll help you out.

1. My EI doesn’t have a rotor & I don’t need to time it (Aug, 2009) “On the Genesee Electronic kit, you only keep the outer shell of the distributor. All the other parts inside you discard in the trash bin. No rotor button, no worry about "timing" the distributor, etc. "

2. Need a new tractor? Check out Ford NH (January 18, 2010) “Ford New Holland is coming out with a "Original" 8N tractor, just like the old one...same engine, same fenders, hoods, you wouldn't tell the old versus the new apart."

3. My EI doesn’t have any transistors in it (January 25, 2010) “ Genesee Electronic Ignition system doesn't have any transistors...”

4. Don’t worry about that OEM bendix busting when you convert to 12v. Mine never has, therefore, 2 rebuild shops as well as the instructions from Genesee for a 12v conversion are wrong. (January 18, 2010)

5. If you strip the threads out of your OEM sediment bowl, rather than replace it for $18, buy an electric fuel shut-off valve for $60……which you must screw into those stripped threads in the sediment bowl. (January 26, 2010)

BTW, that electric shut-off valve is available in most auto stores for $13. Did you really pay $60 for it?

Rather than the witless jokes & the name calling, why not spend your time finding the link to that new 8N? Or, explaining how your EI works w/o a rotor or transistors. Or w/o timing.

Here are your first 5 tips. Only 45 more to go! Keep up the good work.

By my count, the last time you dazzled us with your brilliance, 6 guys responded telling you that you were full of chit. Let’s see if you can break the record this time. Or, if you won't comment on your statements, at least find some better jokes.

what the heck does this direct personal insult have to do with tractors.

IMHO.. you should be banned from this forum.

FYI..I'm reporting your message.
