Dell,

In your response to Jim just two days ago, you mention, "Remember carb drawings LIE. .......good luck, Dell." What do you mean? I am about to clean my carb, have a bunch of data and pics from this site, so would like to know what is not correct.

Thanks,
Jerry

HCooke said: (quoted from post at 12:39:37 11/20/09) Jerry, On the left side under 'Research and Info and under 'Articles, there is an excellant article on how to clean your MS carb. Note the article shows a 241, but all carbs from the MS TSX 33 to the 241 are essentially the same. Use the same kit.

Carb cleaning

That is a really great example of Dell's very point! Couple of pages into it, the picture of lower bowl has a line drawn pointing to MAIN JET location. Problem is: main jet isn't in the vent opening, as that shows!

The author has long ago corrected this along with other updates to his article, but YT has not gotten the update from him even though I believe he has offered it to them free of charge.

Thanks, Dell and HCooke. I follow what you are saying. I did come across Don's article and intend to follow it. Thought perhaps that there may be something totally inaccurate in some bit of advice somewhere, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

Jerry......"carb drawings LIE" is my way of saying look closely, you'll eventually find the part and where it is supposed to go. Its difficult to depict a circular object on flat paper. And cross-sectional "X-ray" views don't always show the part yer puzzling about either. I've never found the drawings too accurate, but never found them inaccurate. So don't worry, proceed carefully, and take notes or pixs iff'n yer carb neubie. ......Dell the truthful
