Dell (WA) 11-06-2009 12:37:05 172.190.146.70 739991 Report to Moderator	Frank.......for the 5-nipple sidemount engine, it should be intuitively obvious that under the teardrop protection cover, you can see the timing marks on the flywheel. With all sparkies removed, you can hand-turn the engine with the fanblade/fanbelt. Simple, eh? For the 4-nipple frontmount engine, there is NO TIMING marks ennywharr. Timing is set by removing the 2-bolt distributor and setting the gap to 1/4" per the picture in the I&T FO-4 manual. You CANNOT re-install yer 4-nipple distributor outta time 'cuz yer distributor rotor is driven by an off-set tang drive scheme. Understand??? Iff'n you really want to know when #1 is TDC, you can "bend" a length of 12ga soft copper wire into kinda "Z" configuration and stuff it down yer sparkie hole. When the piston reaches TDC the wire will rotate and you make the call at top of rotation. Simple, eh? ......Dell, the amazing [Reply]   [Send Email]
