I am no mechanic by any means but I have learned to diagnose and troubleshoot problems with my tractor after three or so years of picking up tidbits here and there, posted by other members of this site.
Recently:
1) My bride's high dollar Snapper push mower wouldn't start. She tried for a long time before coming to me. I knew the gas was fresh, the oil clean and to the proper level, the air filter was clean. It turned over very well but just wouldn't fire off. The only thing left was electrical, which ain't much on a lawn mower. I got a wrench to pull the spark plug. Lo and behold the spark plug was only finger tight. It unscrewed by hand. I pulled it and found it was a little bit fowled. I cleaned and regapped it and properly reinstalled it and the mower fired right up like it was a showroom demonstrator.
2) Yesterday I got my heavy duty pressure washer out to clean the siding on the house. I filled it up with gas and hooked up the water hose and sprayer attachment. I noticed gasoline pouring out of the bottom of the mower. At first I thought the fuel line was cracked. It was not. I thought for a minute and reflected on my tractor troubleshooting tips I've picked up. Hmmm. Maybe the carb float is stuck open? How do you fix that? Hmmm. Tap on it with a screwdriver (which I had in my pocket)?
Bingo! No more fuel leak!
Just a little thing but I learned it here! Thanks, Guys!

| Ken I know how it is.If I hadn't found this site I would have given up on my 2n.AS simple as they are that would be shameful. Now I look at them as working antiques that make sense to operate verses a modern counterpart. |

| Dunk, I knew you were kidding with me. Actually, I was happy to be the hero for my wife. She loves that mower and loves to mow around the house. I try to keep her happy.
:D
But I get to mow the other 9-10 acres with my N, and that keeps me happy. |
