I am going to ask a dumb question. How do you check or set the carburetor float, do you need to take the carb off and take it apart? Thanks for your help. |

I'm not sure that I understand why it would be that much different than the rebuild in the link.
The real key, IMO, is getting everything clean, and open. |
JB;
Dunk is absolutely correct, in his opinion..........Just take the TSX 428 apart, make sure as to where each part in the kit should be installed,
AND INSURE all the passages on the inside are clean and are open when ya blow air @ 80-90lbs of air through them. Use a rubber-tipped air nozzle, pressed against all the openings.
Then re-install everything with the parts from the kit, in the proper place.
Should be able to get it running....then set the adj. needles for good running.
Max clean in and out. Free working parts, and in the proper place.
DO NOT remove the jets, unless absolutely nessesary, and unless you have the proper tool at hand.
NO big problem!!!!!!
BTW: Most kits have the instruction sheets folded and inside the tag-paper cover from the manufacture. Take the cover paper apart....to see if the instructions are there.

Re: Carb Float in reply to Larry Macias, 11-04-2009 16:35:02

| The carb float is set to height with the carb in two halves. You set height per your manual and do it usually by gently bending the arms of each side of the float. On carbs I have done the measurement is from the bottom of the float to the top of the gasket, but the manual is the reference for that. Other than that you may have to check to make sure your float is not leaking. It is leaking if it is full of gas or, if when submersed in hot water, you can see a stream of bubbles coming from a seam. Hope that is what you were asking. I works more on IH carbs than N carbs but I suspects they would be pretty similar. |
