Our AT&T phone bill had an additional charge of $14.95 for enhanced billing (a separate service we never ordered) - turns out this is a scam and is bill 'cramming' where these so called companies add charges to your bill via the main carrier - so keep an eye out for that - of course now to actually speak to an AT&T rep is nearly impossible - very frustrating. Just thought I would give you a heads up on yet another clever scam which I am sure many people have missed.

I to would like to get AT&T completely out of my life.I have a long distance carrier Powernet Global that is excellent no charges if no use. Then only 4cents anywhere, but it goes through AT&T lines..Any more info out there?.....R.M. Yep, NW GA, Cedartown area, and yes it is Charter Cable.

I have Cable, High Speed Internet (5mbps), and my phone with them now.

Before the phone add on we would have a short (5min) Internet outage about once a day, but since the phone was added on hardly ever an outage.

Phone service seems great, and unlimited long distance, $29.99 mo on the phone part.

Just for future reference, when speaking to an AT&T automated voice response unit, if you say REPRESENTATIVE it will transfer you to a live person. Elroy the Phone company guy . . . .

Well, after jumping through all the hoops I eventually spoke to a real person - and had the charge removed from the bill - however the rep told me that the company (who I have never heard of) may bill us directly! We shall see - this is the second 'scam' we have caught this month alone - last one was a company charging us to register our business with the state...which was already done.

Send them a notice that you are switching your service to another carrier and give them a date that you want it done. I bet you will get all sorts of personal attention.

I switched from ATT to TDS Metrocom about 4 years ago now. ATT charges were beyond $70.00/mo for local and long distance base fees. TDS got me a total package with more features and 150 min. free long distance per month for $24.99. First 6 months was $19.99

I have been happy with the service and the price is still the same after all this time. ATT called me for weeks wanting to entice me to come back.

TDS isn't available in all areas but it is worth looking into.

One way to not talk to a puter generated voice is to not press any buttons on your phone. Think of the old rotary phones. Eventually, a human will talk to ya. Works more times than not for me.

YMMV..HTH...don t. .....

Don't you just love talking to a computer for 30 minutes just to get to talk to a person who doesn't seem to have a clue as to how to help you and then they ask you if your happy with the job they did for you. Yep had the run around with them last week or 2 because of no phone service and boy was it fun and it took them 5 days to get my phone back

Yep, BTDT.

When I was with Bell South I had blocks on any additional charges of any kind added to my phone bill. Then ATT bought them and month, after month, after month, it was raise Ell to get the charges off.

I moved my phone, and number to my cable company, I no longer do ANY business with ATT.
