I have a no start problem also. I "followed the volts" as directed. I have 6.28v at the coil with the key on. 6.28v on the other side of the coil with the points open. 6.28v across the points. I just don't get any fire comming out of the distributor to the plugs or from the large coil wire to ground.

I'm going to guess that you are either new at this computer stuff or you're having some software issues. This is your third post in three different places w/ this very same question.

First, when you ask a question, just go back to that question & read the answers.

Next, when you ask a question here, most folks like to know :

1. The model of your tractor (2N, 9N, 8N, NAA, etc).

2. If it is 6v or 12v.

3. If it’s an N, if the distributor is on the front or side of the engine.

4. If it has any major parts that are not OEM, such as electronic ignition, a side coil on a front distributor, etc.

Troubleshooting is different depending on the model of the tractor, voltage, ignition system & distributor placement. And, even if you told me that last week, remember that you’re dealing w/ a guy w/ CRS.

I'm going to guess that you have an 8N, 6v w/ a sidemount distributor.

If you have 6.28v across the points w/ them open, what reading do you get w/ them closed?

You know at first glance this isn't the most user friendly site. Sorry I didn't start off with a full knowledge of your query procedures.

I appreciate most of the replies to this novice and they got me on the way to solving my issue.

Did you get the tractor running?

So, when the pints are CLOSED, what's the voltage @ the points or the points-side of the coil???
