First, thank you all for responding. Originally after changing the battery and starter solinoid I tried to start the tractor. It turned over but did not act like it would start. Normally the tractor takes right off. I pulled a spark plug, held it against the block and engaged the strater. I saw no spark. I thought the next thing in line would be the coil. I did pull the coil but saw nothing out of the ordinary. So i put it back on. After reading through these forums, someone mentioned the ballistor resistor. Thats when I started to look in that direction. I must have broke it when I was checking connections on the back of the ignition switch. I will need to buy a new on and install it. I have taken the hood off so I can see everything and am now in the process of checking, tightening all connections from the switch to the coil. I"m not sure what to look for in regards to the coil or points. As you can tell I"m not a mechanic. Thanks again for all the suggestions. |
