i changed oil today in my 1955 800 ford tractor.iI found water in the oil. Not much but enough to make the oil a milky brown color. I have noticed that sometimes when the tractor starts i see white smoke end smell anti freeze. The tractor is always parked inside. Is this a head gasket or something more serios. Is there a test I can run with the tool that pressurizes the radiator. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thankyou. |

| Not so much experience with tractor motors with over head valves, but with cars, I can say this much...popped head gasket! I popped the one in my turbo charged Thunderbird a few months ago and ruined 6 quarts of full synthetic oil. It looks the same way that you describe, and I have popped my share of them. Drain the oil, change out the head gasket and then check your coolant, there might be oil in there as well.
Good luck.

| | Hi Robert -- I had the same problem on My 8N. Lots of white smoke -- Steam on start up. With mine it was a matter of getting the head milled and new gasket and torquing the head. You have different issues with the overhead valves, I would check for bubbles in the radiator and do a compression check to see anything obvious. Look at the spark plugs to see anything that looks steam cleaned. Dont run till you get it resolved -- antifreeze is murder on bearings- |
